Upon arrival in Hanoi, you will be greeted by our local representative and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy a traditional PHO - pronounced “fa” - noodle soup for lunch followed by a cyclo tour and coffee briefing in the French Quarter. Later join the tour leader and fellow travelers for the tour’s welcome dinner.

Leave Hanoi for the town of Ban Pho Village located in the remote mountainous northwest region of Vietnam. Visit and enjoy lunch in Ban Pho; learn about the way of life of the H’Mong people who live here (Black and Flower). Enjoy a traditional lunch and learn about the making of corn wine and a chance to try Thang Co, a special dish of the Mong people cooked from horsemeat along with the home-brewed corn wine. After lunch, check into your hotel and relax until dinner. Later enjoy dinner in the hotel's restaurant before visiting the Bac Ha Night Market with free dance and music performances reflecting the unique culture of Tay, Nung and H’mong ethnic group such as flute playing and dancing with umbrellas and hand fans.

Rise early this morning to visit the very popular and famous Sunday Bac Ha Market, which is the largest and most colorful in the area. We go very early to avoid the busloads of tourists that descend on the market from Sapa and Hanoi. It's not simply a place to buy and sell, but rather an opportunity for villagers from the surrounding hill tribes to come and meet one another. Relatives reunite, women trade, catch up, and show off their intricate handmade traditional creations they have so proudly made. The men show off their cattle feeding skills, socialize and enjoy rice wine. Even the youngsters join in with many finding a future partner from visiting. Bac Ha Market is famous for its size, originality, and atmosphere. This experience is not one you'll forget. After breakfast we transfer to Lao Chai and Ta Van Village to witness the rhythms of rural life, preparing the fields, harvesting rice and plowing with water buffaloes. Join the local women in their daily work trying your hand at some batik making and learning the traditional technique of H’mong dying. Visit and tour a disable women’s center, a non-profit organization run by Lao women with disabilities that support, train and encourage other disabled women in living a more independent life. Visitors will have an opportunity to meet some truly inspirational women, take part in a handicraft workshop, enjoy a delicious traditional lunch and partake in a short Baci ceremony, an ancient Lao custom involving the tying of holy cotton threads to bless the recipient and ensure good luck on your journey. Early this morning transfer, to the Auberge Calao pier to begin the 2-day Luang Say Cruise along the mighty Mekong River to the Laos/Thai border. A continental breakfast is served once on board. This morning fly to Siem Reap better known as home to the iconic Angkor Wat temple, which is the single largest religious monument in the world. The temple is part of "Angkor" (a UNESCO site), a 400 km sq archaeological site that contains the magnificent remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire. Transfer to your hotel where your afternoon will be at leisure. Later it's off to the city's "Pub Street" for dinner followed by time to explore the bustling "Old Market" area ’ with its many clothing, handicraft, and art shops.

Start the day off early with a visit to Ta Phrom, a temple-monastery left abandoned to kapok trees, strangler figs, and giant creepers. This was the temple left in its "Natural State", as an example of how most of Angkor looked on its discovery in the 19th Century. From there, travel to Angkor Thom (which means "Great City"), once the capital city of the Khmer Empire, through the less traveled Victory Gate. Once inside, enjoy a brief tour of the Bayon, a richly decorated 12th Century pyramid temple with 54 Gothic towers covered with 216 gigantic stone Buddha faces. Then it's off to a local restaurant for lunch before returning to your hotel. Later this afternoon take part in a fun and interesting Cambodian cooking class. Watch live demonstrations and take part in the hands-on cooking of your very own Cambodian dinner.
