Canada's landscapes and old town squares have a special and festive charm, especially around the 'pre-Christmas' Advent period. Our week-long tour includes 2 nights in the country's capital of Ottawa, 2 nights in Montreal and culminating with 3 nights in the heart of Old Quebec City. Planned visits to local Christmas attractions and markets include Ottawa's winter lightscapes show projected onto Parliament Hill, Montreal's Nutcracker Market and Québec City's famed German Christmas Market. Of special note are the 2 UNESCO World Heritage Sites that will be visited while on tour including the Historic District of Old Québec and the Riideau Canal in Ottawa.

Upon arrival in Ottawa, you will be greeted by your private driver and transferred to your hotel located in the heart of Canada's capital just minutes from shopping, restaurants and street markets. Later join your tour leader and fellow travelers for a tour overview and welcome dinner.

Following dinner we will view the winter lightscapes multimedia show projected onto Parliament Hill before returning to our hotel.

We begin our exploration of Canada’s capital by walking to the Centennial Flame located on Parliament Hill, colloquially known as "The Hill" and the centre stage of Canadian democracy. We will enjoy tours of the House of Commons located in the West Block while the iconic Centre Block undergos a massive 10 year renovation and the Senate of Canada Building located one block away from Parliament Hill. (Note that tours may be re-routed or cancelled without notice due to parliamentary activity.)

Following the tours we will enjoy a special lunch at Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts Institute's Ottawa campus. Afterwards the day is at leisure to explore the city including the Byward Market, a popular collection of stores and specialty food shops selling Canadian cheese, maple-infused treats and the iconic BeaverTail, a fried dough pastry, individually hand stretched to resemble a beaver's tail.

This morning we transfer to Ottawa's train station to begin our journey to Quebec City. Relax in business class as we make our way up the mighty St. Lawrence River, passing farms and small communities along the way. After the train arrives we will transfer to our 19th-century Châteauesque-styled grand railway hotel in the heart of Old Quebec City, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The afternoon is at leisure to relax or explore until dinner.

After having the morning at leisure, we will go on a gourmet Christmas Food Tour of Quebec City. Visit local shops and restaurants to sample regional favorites including cheeses and meats, fudge, poutine and other savoury tidbits. Our guide will teach the history of this historical city as we stroll through picturesque Quartier Petit Champlain, the oldest commercial district of Quebec city and finishing near the Old Port. After our tour the rest of the day is at leisure to explore the city's Christmas markets.

Optional Excursions Available - The entire day is at leisure to further explore this amazing city, do some last-minute Christmas shopping or just relax and savor a coffee or hot chocolate and a little sweet treat at a cozy cafe. Later this evening we will take a ferry ride across the St. Lawrence River and enjoy dinner at a microbrewery with panoramic views of Quebec City.

This morning we transfer to Quebec City's train station for our journey to Montreal in business class. After the train arrives we will transfer to our 19th-century neoclassical hotel in the heart of Old Montreal, opposite the breathtaking Notre-Dame Basilica. The afternoon is at leisure to relax or explore until dinner.

Montreal is renowned for its food especially it's smoked meat and bagels! This morning we venture to a unique place for breakfast, a cafe located in the grand main hall of the Royal Bank Tower, once the tallest building not only in Canada but the British Empire. Enjoy a coffee with a famous Fairmont bagel "from Montreal's first bagel shop est 1919" served with smoked sockeye salmon, cream cheese, capers, pickled shallots and fresh herbs.

Following breakfast we will visit and tour the Notre-Dame Basilica, built in Gothic Revial style, the vaults are coloured deep blue and decorated with golden stars, and is filled with hundreds of intricate wooden carvings, beautiful stained glass and a pipe organ, dated 1891 with 7000 individual pipes and a pedal board.

After our tour we will travel to one of Montreal's famous delicatessens to enjoy a tasty smoked meat sandwich. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the city's Christmas markets.

Later this evening everyone will gather to enjoy a final farewell dinner in Montreal.

This morning you bid farewell to Montreal and transfer to the airport for your flight back home.

Cancellations

Once a deposit has been paid the following cancellation charges will apply when a cancellation notice is received:

• More than 75 days prior to departure: Deposit Paid

• Up to 60 days prior to departure : 75% of Trip Price

• Up to 45 days prior to departure : 100% of Trip Price
